The Latest Finger Lakes Tasting Report from James Suckling

Feb 11, 2026 | Featured, Reviews & Articles

“Hermann J. Wiemer is a Finger Lakes stalwart. Much of their success is built on a base of deeply understanding the land and its underlying geology.”

In his latest Finger Lakes tasting report, James Suckling reinforces the region’s reputation as one of America’s premier cool-climate wine destinations, noting its evolution beyond Riesling into a dynamic source for cabernet franc, gamay, chenin blanc, and more. After tasting 434 wines, an impressive 394 earned 90 points or higher — a powerful reflection of the region’s rising quality and global recognition.

We are honored to be featured, highlighting our commitment to understanding the geology, microclimates, and lake-driven influences that shape our wines. More than twenty of our wines received scores of 90+ points.
